Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Immigration Paralegal to join our dynamic legal team. This position is ideal for someone passionate about immigration law and looking to make a significant impact in the lives of individuals navigating the complex immigration process. The successful candidate will work closely with attorneys and clients, providing comprehensive support throughout the immigration case management process.
Key Responsibilities:
Document Preparation and Management: Prepare and compile immigration applications and petitions for submission to various government agencies. Ensure all paperwork, including applications for removal defense relief, visas and permanent residency, work permits, and citizenship, are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
Client Communication: Act as a liaison between attorneys, clients, and government agencies. Provide clients with timely updates on the progress of their cases and maintain open lines of communication to gather necessary information and documents.
Case Management: Manage a substantial case load independently, track deadlines, and ensure compliance with all filing requirements. Organize and maintain documents in a paper or electronic filing system.
Support for Legal Proceedings: Assist attorneys with the preparation of legal arguments, affidavits, and other case documents for immigration court proceedings and interviews, as needed. Coordinate the collection of evidence to support each case.
Qualifications:
- 2 years experience as an immigration paralegal
- High school degree
- Bachelor’s degree or a certificate in paralegal studies from an ABA-approved program is preferred
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and case management software.
- Fluency in Spanish, both oral and written, given the multicultural nature of the clientele.
